The first message is always "Welcome", so I won't deviate from the tradition. We have big plans here as we are go into our 5th or 6th incarnation. From the begining, we were always about "Body as art." Primarily FEMALE body, since most sites seemed to be male at the time -- especially those with piercings, tattoos, or other alterations. Things have changed a bit on the web, but still, female-oriented, non-adult, non-porno bodyart sites are hard to find, and keep running. In 1993 Bodyart.com started out as a gallery site, part of the PGG Graphics, Inc. network. HTML and web servers were pretty crude at that time, and managing the site became very difficult. We were using about a T-1's bandwidth, and if you can imagine, that was *VERY* expensive back then. The situation didn't change much, only got worse, so eventually all the galleries were removed, and the sites became links and text, which was easier to manage. The current version of Bodyart.com has been on-line since about 1998 or 1999, with only software upgrades and background development. Things have changed a little. Bandwidth and servers are cheaper, and faster, our software is better, and is all database driven, and web surfers are a bit more savvy. The philosophy of this site will still "Body as art" -- all forms, from the pure naked form, to the transient bodypainted catsuit, from a nipple piercing to masterful fully inked body designs. We will have two main parts -- The current "Links" directory, and it will be upgraded with additional features, and the "Gallery" areas. The Links area will be as all inclusive as possible. The Gallery areas will be primarily FEMALE oriented, as there are still an over abundance of MALE sites, and most female sites are driven to their knees. We will be able to monitor bandwidth, and image delivery, and provide controlled access. The costs of an image site have not changed -- you can just deliver more for the same money -- so most likely there will be members fees if you want to access the gallery areas. This is a matter of necessity, and practicality. Please share your experiences, your experience, and artwork; your body, or those bodies in your hands. And please -- share YOUR work, not someone elses without their express permission.
